It’s come to my attention that the last time I blogged was May. May last year!

In some ways this is good, I am very very busy teaching, learning, and playing with my band, but in other ways this is terrible! I must be more prolific.

I have some incredibly talented students, learning a variety of pieces. Some of my current favourites are below.

Ok… about a month ago I began to learn ‘Lieberstraum’ by Franz Liszt. Although this is great fun to play I am only about a quarter of the way through and finding it SUCH a challenge! My progress is slow but it is definitely the hardest piano piece I have ever attempted, and will be a great achievement once it is completed. I WILL be posting a video once I can actually do the tricky parts!

In the meantime, I have been teaching lots of Erik Satie in my lessons, along with Mozart and also some great contemporary songs by Jarvis Cocker, Nick Cave and of course, the mighty MUSE…
